End-of-Camp Show Preview


 
Dear Moody Band Students and Parents:
Thank you very much for a successful band camp this year! With much hard work and dedication, our students have managed to put an entire show on the field by the end of camp, and it’s the biggest show we’ve done in my time at Moody. I’m so proud of our students, in fact, that I would like to allow them an opportunity to present a sneak preview performance for parents and community at the Moody Band Field this Monday, August 4th. We’ll follow up with an old-fashioned hot dog social, courtesy of the Moody Band Boosters. Here’s a schedule for the evening:

Monday, August 4th, 2014
6:00-7:00 pm Rehearsal of full band and auxiliaries. Auxiliaries in camp uniform. Winds and percussion in navy t-shirts, athletic shorts, and tennis shoes.
7:00-7:20 pm Sneak preview performance for parents, family, and community
7:20-8:00 pm Hot Dog Social for students, parents, band supporters
8:00 pm Rides ready

As we all know, a successful band performance is dependent upon the full participation of all members. Please make every effort to ensure that your student gets the opportunity to celebrate and share the results of the hours of hard work expended over these past two weeks.

Band Photograph Instructions

Moody Band photos are scheduled for tomorrow, July 22. A schedule and instructions follow:

3:00 Regular dismissal from band camp. Have all rides ready at the band room.
5:00 call time at the band room. Playing members arrive with band shoes, long black dress socks, black athletic style shorts, t-shirt. Auxiliaries arrive in makeup, with hair completed according to instructions, with full field uniform.
5:30 March to stadium
6:00-8:00 Band photo session at stadium
8:00 Have all rides ready at the band room no later than this time

Parents please note: Bill Miller Photography is contracted by the SCCBOE to provide photographic services to all St. Clair County schools. All photos taken during the session tomorrow are the property of Bill Miller Photography. Any individual attempts to take advantage of the session by taking personal snapshots will hinder our ability to produce official photos for the school yearbook and fall football program. Therefore, all parents and other family members wishing to take personal photos are asked to please refrain until after the Bill Miller photographer has finished his work. Please stay off the stadium field until an announcement can be made. If any time remains after the official photos are complete, but prior to 8:00 pm, parents and others may take personal photos if desired. All band members must return to the band room by 8:00 pm to store uniforms and wait for rides.

Purchasing Photos: Before departing the band room at Tuesday's dismissal, all students will be given a photo order envelope. Anyone wishing to purchase photos may do so by placing payment in the envelope and handing the envelope to the photgrapher at the session. Cash, checks, or credit cards are accepted as payment. Checks should be made payable to Bill Miller Photographers. If paying cash, no change is available, so please pay with correct change only. Photo prices for packages range from $12.00 to $30.00. Package descriptions are on the envelopes.

Inclement Weather: If bad weather prevents the photo session from taking place, Bill Miller Photographers will work to reschedule the session. In the event of a rain-out, a make-up date will be posted as soon as possible. Unless you receive a Remind 101 text from Dr. Sargent or from an auxiliary sponsor with news of a rain-out, the photo session will continue as planned. Do not assume a cancellation has occurred. If in doubt, come to the band room, even if it's raining.

Program Ad Sales: If you wish, you may use a school photo or provide your own photo to purchase an ad in the fall 2014 Moody football program book. The program book is a band booster fundraiser, so your purchase or sale of an ad comes back to support your Moody Blue Devils Band! Order forms will be sent home Tuesday afternoon and are available any time from the band room. Ad sale forms are due by August 1.

Band Shoe Fittings and Instructions

Marching band playing members will have shoe fittings at the next summer band rehearsal, Thursday, July 10th, 6:00-8:00 pm. An important part of our marching uniforms are specially constructed marching shoes. Each band member is responsible for owning and maintaining his/her own pair of the correct marching shoes for the duration of their time in the Moody marching band.

Time: Summer Band Rehearsal, 6-8 pm

Shoe Model: Bando Classic Black, model #3003
Supplier: Rose's Shoes and Boots, 5120 Old Springville Road, Pinson, AL 35126, (205) 853-8635 (If you cannot attend the fitting at the band room, please contact Rose's and make arrangements to go to the store for a fitting so you can have shoe delivery by July 17th)
Delivery/Payment: Payment of $30.00 per pair is due at the time of delivery at summer band rehearsal on July 17th, 6:00 pm. Make checks payable to Rose's Shoes and Boots. All students must have the correct shoes by the band photo date on July 22nd.

Summer 2014 Remind 101 Instructions

Greetings Blue Devil Band Members and Parents! I hope you're having a wonderful summer. Marching season is approaching very quickly. Here are some instructions on adjusting your Remind 101 messages to be sure to get the right messages for the coming year:

Remind 101 Subscriptions:
As you transition from one band to another for the coming school year, you might need to change your Remind 101 subscription to be sure you receive messages for the correct group. For rising 8th graders who are "marching up" this year, you should sign up to receive messages for intermediate band AND marching band. All auxiliary members and parents should sign up to receive marching band messages.

Beginner Band: To join, send a text to 251-725-9945 with the message @drsarg
