Preparticipation Physicals/Marching Band Participation

Dear current 8th-11th grade band students and parents:

All current 8th-11th grade students (rising 9th-12th) will become members of the Moody marching band at the conclusion of this academic year and as we begin the fall 2014 school calendar year. This is a time when the level of participation from students and parents increases in intensity, with more travel, after-school rehearsal time, and fall contest performances are added to our band schedule.

Our school requires that before marching band participation begins, every student undergo a physical exam in accordance with Alabama High School Athletic Association guidelines. Many health insurance plans include an annual physical, but for some parents and students, a school-sponsored trip to a physician for a nominal fee is a better option.

This year, our school's physical trainer is offering transportation by bus to Hewitt-Trussville High School on February 7th, during the school day, for the express purpose of obtaining physicals on all of our athletes and any band or auxiliary members interested in taking advantage of the opportunity. If you choose to allow your child to participate, the $10 fee and paperwork are due by Friday, January 31st. The paperwork is available in the band room.

If this offer may serve as a more efficient way of obtaining your child's physical before our marching season begins, I hope you will take advantage of it. Please let me know if you have any questions.
