High School All-County Band

Requirements for the St. Clair Co. High School All-County Band are now available and consist of the same requirements announced previously for the junior high band, with the following exceptions:

High school woodwinds and mallet percussion play scales two octaves.

Dates: March 8-9
Cost: $20.00 per student, payable to the Moody Band Boosters by Monday, March 4
Location:  Springville Middle School/ High School
Registration forms available at the Moody HS band room

Band Banquet

This year's band banquet will take place on Saturday, May 11th, 2013 in the MHS/MJHS lunch room. All details are forthcoming. Please reserve the date in your calendars!

Cosmic Bowling February 22

Another round of Cosmic Bowling is being offered as a fundraiser on February 22nd. For those interested in raising funds for the spring trip, this could be a good opportunity. For every $10.00 ticket you sell, $7.00 goes to your individual account with the band boosters. Sales forms are available now in the band room.

Queen of Hearts Meeting Tuesday, 1/22/13, 6:30 pm, Band Room

All hands on deck! This is the meeting for our biggest fundraiser of the year. We need attendance from all who are associated with beginner through high school band and auxiliaries. Please remember, all parents agreed to work two events this year to keep band fees low. Please help us keep band fees as low as possible for all members!

Percussion Sectional/Band Boosters Tuesday

Please remember to attend the band booster meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 1/15/13 at 6:30 pm.

In addition, concert band percussionists have a section rehearsal from 3:00 until 4:00. All after-school section rehearsals are required as a portion of the spring semester band grade.

All-State Audition Details for Students

Saturday, January 19th at Jacksonville High School:

Students:
• Audition times have been emailed to each band director. See Dr. Sargent.
• Registration procedures:
o Arrive 40 minutes before your audition time.
o Go to the registration desk to sign in. You will then be given a name tag with your audition time and your audition card.
o BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR AUDITION CARD!!!! Do not fold or write on the card. Any damage to the card may prohibit the scanner from reading it properly or reading it at all.
• Warm-up: a warm-up room will be provided. Do not play in the hallways at any time.

• Audition:
o Arrive at your audition room before your scheduled audition time. Upon arrival, a runner will escort you into the audition room. Realize that you may be ushered directly into the audition room or you may have to wait a few minutes but the audition times should run close to the published schedule.
o The runner will match the number on the name tag with the number on your audition card.
o DO NOT SPEAK WHILE YOU ARE IN THE AUDITION ROOM. All communication will be between the runner and you.
o Audition Room #1 (scales and sightreading); Audition Room #2 (prepared pieces)
• Results: results for all-state and District 2 Honor Band will be posted online at www.abadistrict2.blogspot.com around 5:00 pm.
• The Jacksonville HS band boosters will have light concessions available.

All-State Band Audition Correction

Please Note: All-State band auditions this Saturday, 1/19/13 take place at Jacksonville High School, NOT at Southside High School as previously announced. Warm-up/check-in time is 9:00 am. Unassigned (Bass Clarinet) auditions take place at Sparkman High School in Harvest, AL on 1/26/19. More details will follow.

Flutes and Clarinets Monday

Please remember: flute and clarinet sectionals Monday, January 14th, 3:00-4:00 pm. No bass clarinets (you'll join brass and low woodwinds on Thursday).
