Auburn Univ Summer Clinics

From the Auburn University Bands, to whomever may have an interest:

Hello High School Band Directors,

I wanted to be sure you all knew about the summer camps that Auburn University offers to high school students. We have a marching percussion camp, a symphonic band camp, a leadership camp (for marching band section leaders and drum majors), and an auxiliary camp. I encourage you to encourage your students to attend one or more of these camps that pertain to them. They are an invaluable experience in improving individuals in your programs. Please direct the students to this website to find all of the camp details and registration materials:

If you or your students have any questions about the camps, please feel free to email me. Thanks for all your work! I hope to hear from you soon.

Senior Commencement Band 2011

Moody Band Seniors:
Be sure to have your instrument and the Alma Mater with you this Monday morning, 5/16/11, for graduation rehearsal. Buses leave MHS at 8:00 am. The band room will be open from 7:30 until 7:50 am to retrieve instruments and music. Be prepared to load instruments onto the bus or onto the band van, depending upon space limitations. Some students may be asked to play alternate parts to cover instrumentation needs.

See you Monday!

Dr. Sargent

Thank You!!

Thanks to all Relay for Life pep band participants!! Good job!

Dr. Sargent

Solo and Ensemble 2011

Solo and Ensemble participants: If possible, please plan to arrive at Jacksonville High School by 12:00 tomorrow, but no later than 1:00. Moody is scheduled to play during the final block of the festival, and cancellations have allowed the schedule to run earlier than expected.

Relay for Life 5/13/11

Relay for Life has been moved to the MHS gym. Marching band members should report to the gym at 6:30 pm. The band room will be open at 6:00 for students needing to pick up instruments. Please bring instruments and flip folders. Also, please check the website frequently during the next 2-3 hours for any changes.

Six Flags Trip-- Help Needed

Because of the unexpected delays and schedule changes over the past two weeks, rescheduling the proposed Six Flags trip will be necessary to meet deadlines on bus companies and group discounts at the park. If you are a band booster interested and available to assist in the trip planning and scheduling, please contact Dr. Sargent at 640-1995 or brad.sargent@sccboe.org.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Work Day Postponed

The band field work day scheduled for tomorrow, May 7, will be postponed to a later date as we near marching season and band camp preparations. A few volunteers will be doing specific tasks in the morning, but there are insufficient needs to warrant a large work crew.

If anyone is willing to trim the weeds around the perimeter of the band field, it would be much appreciated. Mr. Miller is mowing today.

Thanks to all who were willing to volunteer. We will announce a new work day as soon as possible.

Rescheduling

After last week's storms and school cancellations, the following changes have been made to the band schedule. Also included in this list are reminders of existing events. A copy of this posting will be sent home with students today. I realize that conflicts with some of these rescheduled dates will arise and ask that you communicate to allow us to make arrangements. Rookie camps will now take place during regular band class times in the school day.
